All the Best for the New Year! |
|
We extend a happy new year to all families and members of the LAPS community. We are proud of our students and continue to build their capacity as strong leaders in the school and community. Heartiest congratulations go out to our grade six to eight student council members who led a fabulous food drive in November and December 2011, motivating students to donate over 800 food items which were donated to the St. Paul’s on-the-Hill Community Food Bank, serving Durham Region residents. Our staff members also donated over 30 toys which were given to children in need at the food bank. This holiday food and toy drive was a practical example of how our school community works as a team to make a remarkable difference regarding the inequities in society."
Below, Student Council members are packing Up the Holiday Food Drive donations at Lincoln Alexander Public School.

As a LAPS school community we are extremely proud of our ongoing successes, accomplishments and the challenges that make us stronger. We continue to unfold our School Improvement Plan, focussing on improving classroom practice and achieving consistency within the classrooms, divisions and the school. We will continue to offer an enriched academic and co-curricular curriculum in the four School Improvement Plan pillars of numeracy, literacy, community/culture/caring and pathways. We are thrilled to celebrate the achievement of our grades three and six students in the 2011 EQAO assessment. We were also honoured that as a Durham District school, we were asked to host visiting educators from Denmark on September 13th. It was a pleasure for our staff and students to share information about our School Improvement Plan with the international community.
As the year continues, we look forward to working together with all stakeholders to help improve student achievement at LAPS.
Best wishes!
